Since I was having a bit of a hard time understanding the subscriptions in the systemstatus page, I thought some of you may have the same challenge, so this is a quick guide:
The system status page allows to subscribe to it by email. This will allow for you to receive email notifications when a new system status message is posted.
The behavior of the notification is a bit different for those of you who have access to post system updates, vs the normal user.
For those who currently have a login to the system status page:
There is no need to subscribe, as you are inherently subscribed by having an account. (the email subscribed is the one on your profile.)
If you try to "subscribe" from the front page. The subscription field only shows up when you're
not logged in. Otherwise, you'll have an option to login to manage your subscriptions.
If you already have an account, entering your email to subscribe will show a message like this:
In this case, just go ahead and login. In most cases your login is your first name. (except for the steves). If you don't remember the password I gave you in the meeting, either talk to me, or click on "Lost your Password" on the login screen.
Once you're logged in. you can manage your subscriptions:
If you uncheck all the categories. You will no longer receive any messages. for those who have accounts, this is equivalent to effectively unsubscribing.
Pro-tip: If you would like to receive a TXT message on your phone upon system status updates, you can subscribe your phone, from the main page, while logged out.
Depending on your carrier, subscribe the following email:
AT&T: phonenumber@txt.att.net
Verizon: phonenumber@vtext.com
T-Mobile: phonenumber@tmomail.net
Sprint: phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
Once subscribed, you will received a confirmation text message. Once confirmed. you will start receiving updates on your phone.
For those who do not currently have a login to the system status page:
Simply enter your email address in the email subscription field.
If not already subscribed, then you will receive an email confirmation.
If already subscribed, you will receive a message saying so.
note that for regular email subscribers, the option to choose what category they want to subscribe to is not available. In order to do this, click on the "Register" link on the footer of the page. An email confirmation will be sent, and they will then be able to login and manage their subscriptions.
