Since the Windows 2000 servers are more vulnerable to the virus, and are causing more problems, I have decided to demote any domain controller that is infected with the virus, especially that we are going that direction anyway.
Last night, I went ahead and demoted the hidden trails DC (hdtr-easy). This server is now only serving files, printers, and DHCP. DNS is pointed to the DO, and logon servers are also at the DO.
Over the next few nights, I will probably go around to the 2000 servers and demote them one by one.
Meanwhile, I am also hitting all the servers that either don’t have the newest LANDesk agent, or have had it, but haven’t been rebooted yet, and doing what is needed for the real-time A/V scanner to become active.
Meanwhile, please do remember that if you do install an agent on any workstation, a reboot is required before A/V is active. If you get a chance during the day, or in the evening, please go ahead and perform these reboots.
