I just attempted to create a ThinApp of the LANDesk Console software, which doesn’t natively work on Windows 7, and I was able to get that to get it running without issues in the ThinApp.
There is only one small component which uses a kernel mode driver which isn’t supported on ThinApps; So far, I haven’t seen any direct negative effect from that, and I’m actually not sure what component of LANDesk uses it.
At this point, I was able to get inventory, and remote control without any issues.
If you would like to try out this version on your workstation. (XP or Windows 7), you can copy the LANDesk Management Suite 9.0 File from:
\\do-tech\install$\LANDesk Console ThinApp
and Copy the file: LANDesk Management Suite 9.0.exe to your desktop and run it.
