yesterday morning, our Compellent Controller 5442 shut itself down again, and failed over to the second controller (3988). Since this is the second time this happens, and even after upgrading the controller firmware to version 4.5.5, I opened a case with Compellent for them to investigate the reason for this random shutdown.
The result was that they found that the cache card in controller 5442 had a hardware problem, so they sent me a new one this morning.
I just finished replacing the cache card with no problems. Fortunately, because we have 2 controllers, we were able to do this without any adverse effects to the users. Yay for fail-over redundancy!
