As mentioned in yesterday’s post, I brought online 2 new domain controllers:
DO-STU2DC-2: 10.40.54.211: Virtual Machine
- Active as Domain Controller
- DNS server
- Holds the PDC Emulator and RID Master on the STUDENT2 domain
DO-DC4 : 10.40.55.8 : Virtual Machine
- Active as Domain Controller (Replacement for cvusd_do_pdc)
- DNS Server
The Fortinet FSAE agents can now be installed on those DCs.
One more DC will be coming to replace cvusd-do-dc1. I’m not expecting any problems, as I will probably be moving this server off hours and taking over the IP of cvusd-do-dc1 (10.40.55.19) and giving it to do-dc5 which will become the new authoritative time server.
Since the main district outside DNS forwarders were residing on cvusd-do-dc1, I went ahead and moved those forwarders to do-dc2. This way, we won’t have to worry about losing DNS resolution to the internet when cvusd-do-dc1 goes down.
If there is any issue, or any services that I may have not thought of that may be directly affected by the removal of cvusd-do-dc1 from the environment. please let me know ASAP.
