Over the weekend, I made a change to all the login scripts for the CVUSD domain. In doing that, I added some logic that will copy the Kix32.exe to c:\windows\system32\ and create a folder in c:\ called: “Scripts”. This will contain any scripts that would need to be run for management purposes in the future.
I wanted to make sure to include this piece in the existing scripts, because I’m currently working on the login scripts for the CVUSD domain, and those would fail if the users do not have the Kix engine on their workstations.
If there any problems on Monday in people getting their mapped drives, please let me know and I’ll take a look at the scripts. I have tested those, and they worked in the lab, so there shouldn’t be any issues.
In the coming days, I will be sending additional updates where I will be piloting a simple kix script that will leverage the Active Directory security groups to map user’s drives. By doing so successfully, we’ll be able to get rid of all the individual batch files in Netlogon, and replace them with one universal Kix script.
