VMware vSwitches and other items

Last night, all 7 VMware servers in the CVUSD Cluster have been rebooted. Since I’ve been monitoring VMware View, I noticed that a lot of the View clients are timing out in the quick prep stage. In researching it,  I realized that some of the ESX servers are hitting their vSwitch port limits (24), and therefore, rejecting additional VMs from connecting to the network, and consequently, not allowing them to finish the quick-prep process successfully.

I have changed all the ESX vSwitches from 24 ports to 504 ports on each of the ESX servers, so, this will mitigate against this problem, assuming that this was the problem in the first place. Will know more as users login tomorrow during peak usage.

Other quick items:

- do-sql has also been rebooted due to Windows updates.
- DoubleTake on do-sql is not currently functional, because the server at SBCSS ran out of space. I’m working with SBCSS to rectify this situation.
- Aeries Updates on VMware View have been applied to all the VMs.
- Citrix servers have been reverted back to the snapshot.
  - The server needed to be unjoined and rejoined to the domain, because they were past the 30 day period of being joined to Active Directory and had become tombstoned.
