At this time, I am going through AD, and trying to clean up redundant accounts, which in some cases can be critical to some production services.
In the coming days, I will be doing may similar changes, and I will be sending informational blog posts about them. I apologize in advances if you end up getting a lot of short posts with small amounts of information, but I'd rather keep you informed than kept in the dark. Also, if we are all paying attention to these, we would be able to react quickly to any problems that may arise and restore service as soon as possible.
As I send these updates, I will state the accounts that have been modified, and the services that I think they may affect. In some cases, it may be possible that services I didn't think would get affected, actually get impacted by the change. Unfortunately, this will be the result of lack of documentation, which there isn't anything I can do about at this time. From this point forward, I will be documenting service accounts and where they are configured as I make these changes in Active Directory, and the corresponding services.
For this post the following info is what I'd like you to take note of:
Accounts changed:
ABIGuy1, ABIGuy2, ABIGuy3
Function:
service accounts that run the ABI web servers.
Potential problematic symptoms:
- ABI doesn't load, or loads partially
- Receive some sort of access denied errors.
- User photos not showing up when expected.
