Dameware 8.0 Installation

As you may know, we have recently received the new version of Dameware 8.0.
Since the last update, Dameware had been since purchased by Solarwinds, and now they changed the path of their software, and also install it next to the older version, instead of upgrading it.

As a result, I have had to change the path of the KACE blue button that initiates a Dameware session to point to the new client.

The important part, is that the new 8.0 client is backwards compatible with the old 6.9 agent, but not the other way around, in other words, if you have the old client, and you try to connect to a machine that has the new agent on it, it will not allow you to downgrade it, nor connect to the machine.
For this reason, please make sure that your Dameware client is updated to version 8.0.
You can obtain the installer from here:
\\do-tech\install$\Dameware\CVUSD Dameware\v8.0\DamewareMRC32-v8.0 zip

If you have a 64bit machine, there is a DamewareMRC64-v.8.0.zip version as well.

The KACE blue remote control button, is now pointing to the new path of the Dameware Remote Control, which means, that it will no longer work until you upgrade your Dameware Client. (of course, meanwhile, you can always open your old client manually from your start menu)

You can find the license key in \\do-tech\install$\Dameware\CVUSD Dameware\v8.0\License Key.txt
Important:
The licensing model for the 8.0 version has changed from per user to per device.
This key is being tracked, and we only have 17 licenses. Each person is allowed to install it on up to 3 machines, so please use those licenses sparingly. Each installation registers itself as a license key on the Solarwinds portal.

If you have any questions, please talk to me or Cheryle.
