One less thing to worry about: NOD32

I have created a distribution task on KACE to install NOD32 automatically. This provides a couple of additional advantages over the login script installer (which I have now turned of):

  1. With the KACE distribution task, NOD32 will install on any machines that have the KACE agent on them, automatically, without the need for the user to even login to the domain. This install will also happen silently
  2. The distribution will detect an older version of NOD32, and automatically update it to the latest one.
  3. and finally, the smart label targeting the machines target all computer except: Server, Aeries workstations AND Frozen lab machines.
This 3rd point is important, as this will mean that all machines that are thawed or in maintenance mode will automatically get their Nod32 install, or update, without having to target each lab on its own.

For new laptop / workstation setups, I would recommend that, before installing anything else, install the KACE agent, and allow it to install NOD32. No additional action is needed from you.

I will also be working on doing the same with the Dameware agent, and push it in the same manner.

I am working on leveraging the power of KACE, and moving away from custom and complex scripts so as to make it possible for anyone to make updates and changes.

If you have any questions, or concerns, or if you feel that I may have omitted a detail in this process, please let me know ASAP, so that I can address it.
