Move information to do-tech: IMPORTANT!! PLEASE READ!

I have started to make the moves to the new do-tech server. following is some information that you will probably need, especially if you have static drive mappings, have server shortcuts, or just don’t use your Active Directory login script.

For all the following changes, I have made everything I could to help a smooth transition for your data, I have updated your login scripts where applicable, and changed your AD I: drive locations.  Also, I have tried to make all our accounts look the same in Active Directory, for future ease of management.

Here’s the link where things were, and where things moved to, in case you have static mappings.

Old Location New Location Mapping (if available)
\\do-fs2\utils$\ \\do-tech\utils$ & \\do-tech\utils u:
\\do-fs2\Help Desk Info \\do-tech\group$\Help Desk Info z:
\\do-fs2\group$\technology \\do-tech\group$\TechIS\(Technology) k:
\\do-fs2\group$\information services \\do-tech\group$\TechIS\(Information Services) k:
\\do-fs2\user$\<username> \\do-tech\user$\<username> i:

Additional Items:

You will find a new mapped drive to the y: drive. the path is \\do-tech\deposit$. This is an experimental attempt to keep things organized on the install and ISO drives. The following applies to adding information to the following shares:

\\do-tech\isos$ , \\do-tech\labappisos$ and \\do-tech\install$

Here’s how it works:

For anything that you would like to have available in any of the above shares, you would go ahead and place it in the corresponding folder in \\do-tech\deposit$ , this is the only share that you are able to write to. The other shares are read-only. I will, on a regular basis, take whatever has been deposited in the “deposit$” share, and place it in a permanent location in the corresponding shares.

Backups have been setup to backup only information in the group$ and user$ which is the actual data. ISOS, and INSTALLS are not being backed up, as they are reproducible, and there is no need to waste space for backing them up, especially that they are on a RAID 0+1 volume, which is redundant anyway.

For anything that I may have missed that you think you need to have access to, please contact me.
